Amanda G. Smith is committed to advancing engineering education through collaboration, evidence-based teaching, and a passion for lifelong learning. As Director of the Center for Innovation in Engineering Education, she brings an industrial engineer’s systems perspective to supporting educators, strengthening learning experiences, and guiding meaningful educational change with a focus on continuous improvement.
Amanda also holds an honorary Associate Teaching Professor appointment in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Her experience spans classroom teaching, curriculum redesign, interdisciplinary program development, and academic leadership, including service as Interim Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Affairs. Her work emphasizes connecting scholarship of teaching & learning with practical classroom needs and building community to create supportive, engaging learning environments.
Outside of work, Amanda is a student of improv comedy, an avid science fiction and fantasy reader, and an enthusiastic explorer of new hobbies.
